With Clean up Australia Day coming up on Sunday, March 6, I’m encouraging businesses, schools and community groups to get involved and register your own clean up.
You can register a clean up online at cleanup.org.au/register and be sent a free starter kit that contains bags, gloves and everything you need to create a safe, fun and effective Clean Up. Getting involved in Clean Up Australia Day is a great way to look after our country and the community we live in.
If you have chemicals at home that you aren’t sure how to dispose of, bring them along to the Merriwa waste management facility on Saturday, January 29 to drop them off for free at the Household Chemical CleanOut event.
The event will run from 9am to 3.30pm and community members can dispose of a variety of household chemicals including paint, garden chemicals, poisons, batteries, pool chemicals, motor oils, fluids and fuels, fluoro lights, gas bottles, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
Coulson’s Creek Road meeting
I wish to remind residents that a community meeting regarding Coulsons Creek Road will be held on Thursday, February 3 at Merriwa School of Arts. The meeting will be run by Council in conjunction with Public Works Advisory to discuss progress on Coulsons Creek Rd, otherwise known as MR 358.
The team working at the site will give an update with questions to be taken from the community. If you wish to attend please register online via the Eventbrite link on Council’s website to ensure the meeting is COVIDsafe.
