One of the first paint manufacturing companies established in Fiji in the early 1960’s has strengthened its presence in the business sector with the acquisition of Central Pacific Chemicals Pte Ltd (CPCL) from IXOM.
Pacific Coatings Pte Ltd (PCL) chief executive officer George Karountzos said the acquisition demonstrated PCL’s ability in sustaining the business and providing the impetus for growth given the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There is strength in the connections that we forge in business, and we look forward to continuing a solid relationship with IXOM,” said Mr Karountzos.
He said their track record of rapid expansion in the coatings business was complimented by the continuous expansion in their portfolio of globally leading brands.
“It is a testament of our customer-centric approach to business and we are of the firm belief that we can employ our successful strategies in the chemicals arm of the business.
“Given the strong technical expertise present within both operations, we look forward to a smooth transition by retaining the CPCL staff and them becoming part of a larger family and well positioned to operate the chemicals business to international standards and serve our customers better with complete coatings and chemical solutions.”
In a statement the company explained that previously known as BJN, PCL produced the recognized brands British Paints & Berger Paints.
The company was previously owned and operated by Orica Australia (currently known as Dulux Group Ltd).
According to the statement in 2006 Orica Coatings (Fiji) Ltd, trading as Dulux Fiji sold its shareholding to Pacific Equity Ltd, the parent company of Pacific Coatings Pte Ltd which is proudly the only 100 per cent locally owned paint manufacturing company in Fiji which currently Services nine countries within the Pacific region.
