🌱 East Hampton Daily: School District Budget Passed + Pool Problem

Good morning, neighbors! It’s me, Diane Witek, your host of the East Hampton Daily.

First, today’s weather:

Cooler; rain in the morning. High: 61, Low: 55.

Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. The East Hampton Union Free School District budget for 2022 to 2023 passed! The proposed $76,502,823 budget reflects a 1.79 percent budget-to-budget increase. Three Board of Education incumbents, running unopposed, retained their seats. Voters also approved the establishment of a repair reserve fund. (East Hampton Patch)
  2. Since last October dealers of pool pumps nationwide have been booked well into the third quarter. No wonder pool installations in Hamptons are backlogged until 2023. Common supply chain problems and labor shortages are constraining this and many other businesses across the nation. The cost, well, costs have gone up at least 30%. (Bloomberg)
  3. What a great idea, a Cornhole Tournament! The inaugural competition raised $5,500 for the Hampton Bays High School’s new food pantry, which is part of the first-of-its-kind partnership in the state with grocery store chain Stop & Shop. (27east.com)
