State Senator Brad Hawkins is working to secure additional funding for the city of Wenatchee’s pool repairs and operational costs.
The Senate supplemental capital budget proposal earmarks $300,000 for pool repairs, but Senator Hawkins is reaching for $550,000.
“The Wenatchee city pool is really a regional asset. A lot of communities outside the city utilize the pool,” said Senator Hawkins. “The city of Wenatchee has a lot of expenses to repair the pool.”
City of Wenatchee is facing almost $900,000 in costs for the pool and Senator Hawkins is working to rack up $550,000 for the pool project in the 2021-2023 capital budget.
“Hopefully over time, capital expenses and the ongoing operational expenses won’t be borne onto the city of Wenatchee alone to manage,” said Senator Hawkins.
Senator Hawkins also supports Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz’s idea of a regional aquatic center.
