WESTFIELD — On Feb. 17, the City Council voted 12 to 1 to appropriate $700,000 from free cash to Westfield High School for swimming pool repairs.

Last year, the school district transferred $1 million that it had previously budgeted to pay for the pool repairs into the city’s free cash, after bids for the repairs came back $600,000 to $700,000 over the budget, according to Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski.
