Augustus Brown Pool

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) – The Augustus Brown Swimming Pool will be closed starting February 14 and through March 6

The reason according to a release from Juneau City Hall is to address several deferred maintenance projects.

The plan calls for completing repairs to the boiler and plumbing system and making minor plaster repairs in the lap pool.

The release says more work to extend the life of the pool is planned for the near future, including replacement of the boiler and an upgraded air handling system to improve ventilation and humidity control.

Planned renovations of the locker rooms, lobby, mechanical systems, and pool liner have been postponed due to high construction costs.

A large portion of the roof was replaced last year.

The pool is scheduled to reopen on March 7.
